Indian Boxers Arrive Home After A Good Showing At The World Championships

After a sensational performance at the 2011 AIBA World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan the Indian team would be returning home on the 11th October, 2011. Asian Games gold medallist Vikas Krishan (69kg) capped off a brilliant performance bagging a bronze medal in welter weight division of the championship, the 19 year old also sealed an Olympic berth in the process.

The tournament witnessed a total of 4 Indian boxers making it to the quarter-final round and qualify for the 2012 London Games. Apart from Vikas, Jai Bhagwan (60 kg), Manoj Kumar (64 kg) and Devendro Singh (49kg) also qualified for the mega event next year. The Indian team displayed great talent and potential putting up exceptional performances against world class boxers in what was India?s best performance in any World Championships or Olympic qualifiers.
